I want to give room for my world to breathe before the plot starts picking up, showing all the peaceful and chill aspects of living there, but I'm worried I might make it too "daily life" and turn off readers.

What are some good examples of world-building before plot?

Remember the audience is probably a lot less autistic than you. Let the world be revealed through the plot.

Ignore this. Only introduce characters in the third of fourth chapter.

Hook from page one and never let the reader catch their breath. Do all the classic greats do this? No. Does anyone except /lit/ autists and post-graduate students read the classic greats? No.
Lightning strikes on the first page and every page after. Otherwise you die in obscurity.

I have a weird habit of greatly underestimating my audience. Thanks for the reality check.

Sounds weird

I'll keep that in mind as well, thanks Anon.

If you want to write a book with a lot of world building before plot, just do it. If you want to write a book that will appeal to most people, you're probably gonna have to make the plot facilitate world building.

You can always write the stories first for the normalfags. Then write a book of worldbuilding and backstory for those who want more.

You can always come back to settings later, anon. No need to drop everything on the reader at once

Are you actually fat, like the frog in the picture? It's relevant.

Write your book in a way that is completely unrelatable to humans or even life. That is how we ascend art. We are too caught up in ourselves

Fuck your plot. All the best works were just people chilling in the real world doing real world things.

Most helpful advice I've ever read on lit

Klara and The Sun recently set up the world before the plot began. First 45 pages or so were just setting the stage. Those who read for themes or the quality of writing will be patient enough to let you build. People who need an obvious plot structure will be less patient. Write for yourself first and foremost.

The Last Man is a prime example of this, the first half is about the life of the characters. I absolutely loved it.
