Many (most?) people are born with a bisexual tendency from one degree pr another. In heteronormative households the bisexual with strong tendencies towards same-sex urges has a harder time retaining heteronormativity. They might repress it for the sake of the family and marry, have children, but later when there’s no sex life, tensions may lead to divorce. And the bisexual turns to a same-sex lifestyle.
The existence of bisexuality does not negate homosexuality anymore than it does heterosexuality. The bisexual may try to comfort themselves by saying everyone is in fact bisexual and they’re just repressing it all.

If a young woman find she likes women and doesn’t even know or consider males till some guy sweet talks her or gets her drunk enough to experiment, the guy hasn’t turned a lesbian straight. He’s found a bisexual.

People who are living their whole lives as heterosexuals or homosexuals had an experimental phase growing up. They end up never doing it again.

I had no access to sexually adventurous boys my age. I don’t know if I’d have taken advantage of this or not, but I had no one. I forced myself to consider the idea PIV sex on several occasions. And I hated the idea.

Lesbians are over-represented among good female writers: Sappho, Aphra Benn, Virginia Woolf, Marguerite Yourcenar, Iris Murdoch, Gertrude Stein, H.D., Camille Paglia... If a female author is actually good there's a very high chance that she is a lesbian. That is why I think lesbianism is real. It's too strong a correlation to be coincidence.
