Has the dust finally settled? Can we talk about this with all the autism now?
How was this and all the other books this dude wrote?
It’s the first (or at least most memeable) instance of anyone from this board attempting to write a book from this board. What did you guys think? No meme answers please.

I have only read Call of the Crocodile and Arcade but they were really fun reads. The writer's biggest mistake was giving away his books for free on this board. This led to negative reviews from people wanting his books to bomb and a ton of shit posts and memes. The memes probably helped a bit and I haven't seen him give his books away for free since then. Maybe he learned his lesson.
The books are not perfect. There's too many commas. But that's honestly the editors fault (or lack of editor.) Writing a novel and editing are two separate crafts. In that sense I don't blame him. I give him credit for doing and achieving what many on this board only dream of doing and actually writing not just a book but a whole series of them.
Overall, Call of the Arcade was better than Crocodile. At least that's what I thought. Crocodile might just be too tormented and depressing for mainstream success. It doesn't help that Call of the Arcade had a school shooting in the middle of the plot. They're edgy even for the biggest edge lords out there. They have some creepy moments and Gardener is actually good at coming up with weird twists.
Those two books were an interesting experience at the very least.

Can I just get a non meme answer to the twist. Please fellas. I beg

>Gardener is actually good at coming up with weird twists
as soon as I see a twist mentioned I know it's Gardner or his discord trannies writing this. What serious reader has ever given a fuck about "twists"? What good book has anyone here read that was good because of the twist? It's a dead give away that these aren't being written by normal /lit/izens.

While there are grammar and style issues, I believe the Author did an admirable job with this story. He created believable characters, a suspenseful atmosphere, and where often times authors make mistakes by creating a vision that takes itself too serious - he did not. The author succeeded at creating a successful introductory piece, and I would recommend this as a short read

>What good book has anyone here read that was good because of the twist?

You can't be serious. Lots of things and not just books. Every single Goosebumps book ever written. All episodes of The Twilight Zone, Tales From the Crypt. Most Black Mirror episodes.

Books are okay and decent to read in an afternoon, the only reason why so many people hate the author is because he's an animefag that managed to finish multiple novels in the span of a few months, while the pseuds can't even get started with theirs yet.

I’m convinced there isn’t one, and any mention of a twist is just a shill talking point to get people to read it.
The book is a really painful and arduous read, written with clear intent to be as edgy as possible and frankly doesn’t even feel like he gave it any editing before publishing.
Really horrible books, at least from what I’ve read, yet pretty smart to capitalize on non-readers desire to be in on a /lit/meme, thereby getting free advertising from people who just want to troll.

In chapter two of cotc he starts referencing Sysiphus and Dante’s inferno in really ham fisted attempts to elevate the complexity of what he’s trying to convey, which is ultimately really simple. He actually explains the references instead of just dropping the names, in case the reader didn’t get it.
Also the chapter itself is cringe as fuck: it’s basically setting up that a character is dreaming that he’s a murderous crocodile, but Gardner doesn’t want you to really get that so directly, so he tries to be coy, but the “subtle clues” he gives are so obvious it’s just a big waste of time. You know what’s happening in the first three paragraphs and the rest is just reminding you how smart he is, which he does not actually appear to be
