What is the most fair, detailed biography on this man?

>> No.18265933

>>18265926
There is none but if you read both Stolfi and Ullrich you get a decently objective view

>> No.18265944

I thought Ian Kershaw's biography was cool. Really massive and a great read. But it's also the only one I've read, so take that for what you will, I don't know how fair it is compared to others

>> No.18266024

>>18265944
Kershaw is not objective nor fair, he's very biased.

So what you’re looking for is a bias that is pro-nazi, pro-war etc.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for.
No you stupid cunt, read the words: FAIR AND OBJECTIVE.

Better to read a biased biography and know the bias rather than try to find the magical unbiased biography.

Hitler's Table Talks

Adolf Hitler - John Toland (I've heard it's fairly unbiased; never read it though)

The best thing to do is to read Human Smoke and Hitlers Table Talk and judge for yourself. Otherwise you're just going to be seeing it through the lens of someone else.

That can only be taken so far. For instance, if I wrote "FDR was a president whose policies included the disastrous New Deal", that would be biased, but it *does* include factual content. If instead I wrote "FDR was a homosexual, whose intention with the New Deal was to kill all the children", that is not only biased but just fantasy. I don't mind bias of the first kind, but especially with biographies of nazi brass one tends to find things of the latter sort.

Shirer’s book isn’t really about Hitler so Much as his regime. I liked it because he was pretty good at getting details about personality and the problem was he novelized history and he hated Nazis so he assigns motives and all this.

However he also did some good research so think it’s with a read.

The Toland one I thought was mostly fair.

The best is Speers works

That’s funny you should read rise and fall of the third Reich.

It had lampshades and the Speer slave camps and the exhaust trucks. And then it had a memo from Speer asking the Jews be moved to labour...

>> No.18270657

>>18270475
I didn't make any claims that it was. The factual nature of the statement "FDR was a president whose policies included the disasterous New Deal" is that his policies included the New Deal, not that it was disasterous. The latter is the bias which, of which that sentence was a demonstration. I thought that this was pretty clear.

I listened to this audiobook recently, discussing what life was like in Germany at that time, much of it based on letters and diaries, from the 1920's to 1945. it's probably the most balanced book I've read (listened to)

Apart from a handful schizoblogs (e.g. Richard Carrier or some Russian woman that appears under various pseudonyms), the original Bormann protocols are considered authentic. It's the French and English translation which caused controversy among schizos who are obsessed with Hitler's view on Christianity.
