Isn't it frustrating. So many books on the topics and different Buddhist schools of thought. Online is even worse. And then because there are so many it ruins meditation because I sit and think shouldn't I be doing this other thing.

I'd recommend this book OP. At least it's written by a real monk, not annoying zen minimalism, and covers the Satipatthana Sutta which at least when followed will help with focus and vipassana, which are useful skills even if you like other Buddhisms later
