A friend let me borrow this, I’ve never heard of it before.

What should I expect? Does /lit/ like it?

/lit/ used to like it, but recently everyone here is a hunched and bitter shell of a man, so >>18290415 became the prevailing opinion. It's fun. Do the thought experiments if you want to get the most out of it.

I read it when I was a teen and loved it. Very fun, nothing serious, pretty degenerate.

I've disliked this book for at least 14 years now I'm just new to /lit/. When I was doing drugs lots of people enjoyed these books and the one with the dolphin on the cover, I didn't like it. It is just some scammy hippie trying to get nerd pussy and ego trip

I liked the insight on joining cults and some otf the imprinting and developmental stuff seemed to model humans well.

He really lost me with his optimism for progress and people just becoming smart and like getting along man. War ist just people being stuck in their anal phase.

i haven't read it, but i read it's sister book "undoing yourself - energized meditation", and enjoyed it quite a bit. everyone tells me that prometheus rising covers the same ground, but better. so you're getting entry level actionable occultism + timothy leary/CIA style brainwashing. fun, but be careful

It has nothing to do with energized meditation, this is why you read books before reviewing them.

I like the book but his basic bitch leftism gives me pause

Also how atrociously wrong all his predictions about the future and basic ideas about the real world

And whenever I see him speak I find him to be far too enamored with himself

And this http://mileswmathis.com/anton.pdf

All that being said, I still really like this book. I don't know. The basic ideas in it seem pretty solid.

Wilson is all about the mind-fuck yeah.
I've read most of his shit when I was in my late teens and had a huge influence that continues in my work today.

I was excited to read it but I actually fucking threw it in the trash disappointingly after chapter 3. Pure fucking garbage. I maybe would have gotten like a sliver of something out of it five years ago, but after reading every religious text created by man it's just fucking disgusting.
Rick and Morty tier.

Same, this book was my favourite as a teen. If I read it for the first time now, it might not be as impactful, but I think it was the right book for me at the right time, and I appreciate the hell out of it
