The last decade has seen profound amounts of radicalization, on all sides.
My fear is that it would only serve to further add to the whirlwind that is politics and public perception.

But Spengler hated Nazis and racialism

>> No.18643474

>>18643435
There is much romantic appeal to Spengler, he was popular with many types of people. His main ideas are much easier to grasp than Guenon or Evola as well, who are just extremely cryptic and scattered through dozens of books

Sure I'm just curious who would be interested in this outside of the people usually interested in what upside-down Verso publishes.

>> No.18643494

>>18643467
Spenglers celebration of culture and kind of stoic acceptance of death and change is simply not amenable to angry political radicals. His own attempts to write about political issues of his day in some kind of pragmatic sense are just rather weak

>> No.18643499

>>18643467
The parts about mathematics would probably filter a good deal of "weak-minded" people, that is to say people who'd read it just to be hip. Regardless of that though it gives you a sense of the immense scale that human civilisation has operated on. Not much potential for radicalisation.

>> No.18643515

>>18643382
Doesn't matter, Spengler being seen as vaguely right wing means the right would promote him as a prophet and liberals would call him a white supremacist.

>> No.18643517

>>18643494
Hmm, ok.
From what I've seen, the West won't go quietly into the night, rather, it would be very much like Yugoslavia in it's fall.
It will be slow, as we see now, but then a catalyzing event with set if off like an explosion

It's good that he's being published. It's bad for Spengler's reputation that it's a le racist publisher doing it. Appparently people don't read beyond a title.

It's mostly conceptual. He likens the differences between geometry, algebra, trigonometry, function theory and so on, to the differences between cultures and their respective arts and politics.

>> No.18643593

>>18643517
I have no idea about that. You can make all sorts of arguments about the future...I don't even understand the present or past so idk. I just dont think Spengler has much use in this context of political radicals, it's not like youd have to reference him specifically to style yourself as a Caesar, which is the only use of him I can imagine

>> No.18643602

>>18643564
I feared to would add another layer to the radicalization.
Whether it be the Victim Mentality, or Anger at the world, everyone is looking to be pissed off at something new, and a book with the title "Decline of the West", I feared it would further that mentality, regardless of whether or not someone read it or not

>> No.18643613

I'm not sure I understand where your fear comes from. If we live in a time when a book title could possibly tick people off, doesn't that imply that we need a book like this?
What do you see as the solution to the current state of things?

That's the thing, I don't have a solution. Rather, I don't see any chance of repair to this civilization.
Why? Because people don't realize it's horribly broken, or simply don't care. The first step in solving a problem is recognizing that it exists.

>> No.18643653

If people are susceptible to that it's not the book that is causing it, and again there is no bad guy in Spengler, civilizations just die on their own. This is simply not a concept that induces political rage

I disagree. More that it would be a radicalising effect as to the nature of politics. People will begin seeing past the thin veneer of bread and circus’s and demand that the inevitable future comes forth sooner. I think if more read this it will serve to worsen the political pal divide. The Left cannot accept reflection and introspection as it casts a light upon their fallacies, meaning they will aim to double down on individuals who espouse the arguments Spengler makes. The ride is only just beginning

People greatly misunderstand Splenger, but the idea of “the west is declining” is not a new idea. It’s an idea that’s been repeated ad naeseum since the 60’s.

What would actually happen is that far right individuals would use Splenger as their poster boy for a while, the radical leftists would write some condescending finger waving articles, and normies would find it mildly interesting, before quickly forgetting about it and moving on to the next big thing.
