Write something to yourself.

Honest question: Why do you want to write a book?

I just want to feel it in my hands, and see it on my bookshelf, and know for myself that I made that. that will be nice.

A writer writes because s/he has to.

That depends, one can also write as a craft. This is mostly the case with people who write to cope. I'm somewhat like this, but I don't think this is the kind of thing that can be said about every writer.

Sometimes you don't need a reason. People cope with doing stuff and imagine themselves with a purpose, sometimes you just want to cook something nice, sometimes you just want to write and that's it.

Do it anyways, anon. Most writers don't "make it" until far into their career, and your first draft (if not your first novel, period) is gonna fucking suck no matter how much you bitch about it. But the only way to find out if four books from now you'll suck less about is to write the first three.

As for "nobody will read it", that's bullshit. I make tabletop RPGs which are a niche at best market and I've gotten hundreds of downloads on an unfinished project. People will always find obscure garbage and eat it up one way or another.

You know what I did to start with my own book? I moved away from social media, and that includes this hellsite. Unplug your brain from the cycle of dick measuring instilled into your head by the internet, and you'll find yourself writing in no time.
