To be completely honest, as an American of Indian descent, I think American culture at its core is African. There's a passage by I think Jung about this, and it gives examples of how American culture takes its value system from African culture, and when I read it was rather uncomfortable, like reading a psychological analysis of yourself. (In particular, he gives the example of how like African culture, American culture is enamored with size and grandeur above all else; when I read that it was "wow, this is literally me").

There's something to be said for the idea that African American culture is the purest form of American culture, that African American culture is what American culture truly is. I think this has always been the case, but only since the 20th century has it become overt. There's a reason African American music is so beloved by most Americans (myself included to be fair). It's the most accurate representation of America, from the more measured jazz to the oversaturated rap.

I'm extremely ignorant of Indian culture, but I have noticed that many Indians tend to default to a kind of racial tribalism/SJW mentality that pairs with a kind of racial essentialism. Which blacks are we talking about? There are in America hundreds of thousands of conservative black baptists. Black muslims. African immigrants. Malcolm X types. Martin Luther King types. I think people usually imitate what is around them and how they are told to act, and this applies as much to whites as to blacks, so when media tells them "be X" a lot of them go ahead and act like that. The extant that it's a purely organic phenomenon however, I have my doubts. I think that America's media industry spent as much time and money promoting Black Sunni Muslims as they did promoting Black gang-bangers you'd see a completely different America and completely different black communities and families.
