I'm a translator which means I get to focus all day on reading/writing and I honestly hate my life. Partly because all the books I tend to work on are the shit in the best-seller aisle, but I feel that even if I got more chances to work on real literature the craving to make something truly mine yet not having the time to do so would drive me to suicide.
The pay is shit, too, so I'm not escaping this hell anytime soon. Wish I was an american so I could irresponsibly turn homeless while I write about my experiences, but that kind of life isn't too kind to people in the country I reside.

Tbh, the only way to revolt in our cynical, materialistic times populated by people with scheming mindsets is to be a dreamer who gives himself an opportunity of escape, to be morally firm in the face of real and potential disappointments, to love without calculation or second thought placing yourself in the position of vulnerability. Culture demands people like us, whereas economy demands snake-like schemers who are embarrassed with anything that is actually life affirming, since it involves risk, eventual disappointment, etc. I've seen my closest friends give into the demands of practicality and wither away in soulless jobs, jumping on medication the second they "adopt responsibility" (read: slave away your life on medication). It is better to be naive and to take risks than to live a comfortable, but inconsequential life.

Respect to you, anon. I hope you find both romantic and artistic success. I also do my best whenever I can to fight back against the blackpill garbage in a calm and empathetic manner. I'm lucky enough to be old enough to have avoided that particular pitfall, but it genuinely hurts me to see its proliferation because there was a point at my life where I could see myself having fell for it. You're fighting the good fight, and I hope you will continue to do so. I'll do my best as well.
