People on /lit/ do hate Harry Potter and instead tend to plump for really safe middlebrow shit which I for one find equally offensive.

I'd love to see discussions of writers like Kathy Acker, Stewart Home, Dennis Cooper and Peter Sotos here but it's not gonna happen, just like /mu/ can't break away from whatever Vice magazine's advertisers tell em is appropriate hipster listening this month.

IF YOU SPENT MORE TIME LURKING, YOU'D SEE MANY PEOPLE ALSO APPRECIATE HARRY POTTER. HOWEVER, SOME PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE IT, BUT NOT NECESSARILY BECAUSE IT'S 'MAINSTREAM'.

IT'S A SERIES OF BOOKS TARGETED TOWARDS CHILDREN, MOST OF US ARE NO LONGER IN THAT AGE BRACKET, SO WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAVE TO VIEW THAT BOOK (IN TERMS OF QUALITY) FOR WHO IT WAS TARGETED TOWARDS.
