Of course the source is more important than the advice itself in terms of if i will follow it or not. why its implied like its bad?

the problem is boomers were anti tech without even understanding why tech is bad, they were just being boomers. and now they've mostly embraced tech

the boomers in my own life who didnt allow me to have a phone or vidya as a kid had basically no reasoning other than "new bad" and that the screen would ruin my eyes. If they knew how bad tech actually was they'd have never let me get a phone. im not letting my kid get a smartphone

I get what you mean, but as far as I can tell, Boomers' brand of anti-tech is wholly different from Ted's brand of anti-tech. Boomers love their cars, lawnmowers, and ESPECIALLY television. They just tend to dislike tech that deviates from the life they lived when they were young.

To me, it's amazing that Ted was even capable of being disillusioned with modernity; he was born right at the end of WWII. His voice was truly never meant to be heard by Boomers or Gen X, and I imagine it resonates a lot more with later Millennials and Gen Z whose autonomy is demonstrably less than that of previous generations.

Outside religion morality is just an expression of personal taste. Maybe he doesn't have a religion, then you cannot refute it. You might make a moral claim like "killing and robbing children is morally good", and that means that people should do it even if they don't want to do it. But that would just be your personal taste. Someone else might think that killing and robbing children is morally wrong, the opposite. Or morally neutral, neither something people should or should not do. But outside religion there is no reason why any of those claims are true.

Here

Man has become overspecialized- the very cognitive skills which nurtured our survival have over extended allowing us not only to build a safe physical environment but the ability to destroy our selves spiritually as we seek to find a purpose within the chaos that supposedly randomly spawned out existence.
We struggle with an unreasonable amount of reason- Having evolved our behaviour far beyond what biology could keep up with, leaving us stuck in the past striving yet beyond the what is now seen as the "basic" needs that were once the only concern.
There are two solutions as I see it- we can hope for transhumanism to act as the true second coming of god making man in our own idealized image- yet ironically the very thing it seeks to fix will prevent it ever coming to be as the human condition exploits this potential technology for their own benefit- those with might are right as has always been the case and true monstrosities which were once human would surface- this dystopic vision of humanity would be beyond the horrors our best writers could conceptualize and become our destiny.
So that will not happen! we hope!
The second solution is the very thing Ted Kaczynski the unabomber hoped to achieve- Returning the world to a preindustrial age more aligned with our natural evolutionary needs.
Obviously man would begin to discover the forbidden knowledge of silicon again returning us to where we started.
The thing that B O T H of these proposed solutions have in common is they fail in the exact same way- their downfall is the very thing they hope to correct.
The human condition.

The tedpill isn't about "muh economy" or "muh elites". In a way, it isn't even about technology. The tedpill is a rejection of civilization itself. Technology is nothing but a way to build up civilization, which is why Kaczynski rejects it. He wants to get rid of agriculture as well, but he just doesn't know how to do it.
