Why are leftists usually well read than the right?

Yes, and why do leftists have this trait more than the right

>> No.18796389

Because the left get grifted to read books by disconnected academics that have no idea how the world actually operates. These leftists also have an inner desire to become these academics

The right gets grifted to donate to Alex Jones, Fuentes and Trump.

by the way i'm a rightist who used to be a far-leftist for most of my life. my open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity led me to abandon left-council communism for the center-right.

>>18796387
because leftism champions diversity, innovation and progress, welcoming différence and otherness; whilst conservatism generally prefers order, tradition, canon. why most modern conservatives don't read much of said canon is another story.

Leftists are usually young, which means they probably go to school, which means they're probably more well-read than older people who tend to be more conservative.

by and large, the right regards intellectual pursuits as effete and self-indulgent.

>> No.18796539

Leftists, being champions of the people and arising organically from the working class, have long prided themselves on their total monopoly over old WASP universities and bourgeois "theory" that requires 15 years of pretentious elitist training to learn to regurgitate until it passes the standards of a hoary guild of kathedersozialisten who by definition have presided over 50+ years of no revolutions

What do you define as centre right?

I went from being an anarchist and half-hearted left communist to being a fascist who believes regionalism and and agrarianism need to balance totalitarian statism even within fascism. But I would root for anyone who hates the international financial system at least provisionally.

I actually moved away from wanting to destroy the international monetary system to accepting its pragmatic function in preserving the West as the dominant geopolitical power. The free market is what keeps the world alive and relatively free and safe compared to the alternatives. I believe in preserving freedom of speech and traditional Western values.

I'm not a fascist, like I said, more of a neocon. And this is coming from a lifetime leftist anarchist.

But that’s the most interesting story of all. After all, how can we understand the actual right without understanding its hypocrisy. Right wing “thought” is not to be interpreted as “thought” at all. That’s the problem.

Because leftism is cultivated in academia and has selectively expunged right-wing thought from the same.

>> No.18796808

>>18796381
To be a well read rightist you have to engage with the classics on top of unearthing the reactionary/anti-enlightenment/fascist/traditionalist schools of thought which have been suppressed, every step of the way going against the grain.

Leftists are simply the default creation of public education followed by meh-tier universities shovelling you critical theory slop from the moment you enter the system. Hence every 'well-read, educated' midwit is a leftist.

>> No.18796819

>>18796381
becaus they have taken over academia and they popularize leftist authors. one brainwashing technique used by the communist koreans was to take smart americans who had little education and to lock them in a boring room full of communist literature and propagada, which worked more often than not in converting them to communism. the right wing needs to catch up.

>> No.18796828

If you read into leftism you will start using language that makes people on the right think you are no longer "one of them" and label you as a lefty even though your actual views may be quite divergent from the hyperpozzed corporatist order we live under. The simplest way to put it is that rightists are not well-read because they police each other against contamination from outside ideas. As soon as someone starts talking about class consciousness or whatever the entire right says She The Fuck Up Commie and goes back to their carefully chosen and esoterically interpreted set of acceptable thinkers.

the left privileges the experiences of the Other - and the very expression of the Other itself. there's a common belief that the individual's own perspective is constrained, and education simultaneously instills this belief and offers a (theoretical) remedy.

in contrast, the right privileges the individual, lived experience of the self. this way of thinking creates a like-minded whole unified around something concrete. both left and right ask that the individual sacrifice something to be aggregated into the whole, but the right asks significantly less and isn't as elitist (although it is exclusionary).

>> No.18796872

I don't know if that's true or just a meme. From what I've seen, any political person -- Left, Right, whatever -- tends to just read a plethora of thought they already agree with. How many "Leftists" actually have read "a lot" of Fascist literautre -- actual Fascist literature, not "He's on Fox News, he's a fascist" -- or how many "Right-leaning" persons have read Marx?

If I had to wager a guess, "Leftists" have more of a penchant to stay constant with whatever's in vogue. Since the paradigm is always shifting for them, they HAVE to be on top of it or it's a social death, in a way. "Right-leaning" seems more content with a constant ethos that doesn't shift much; so, there's not much push to be in on the fad.

>> No.18796897

Has nobody considered that leftist thought is tolerated/promoted within academia while rightist isn't? Obviously it's a reflection of the institutions these people represent and are published by.

That doesn't sound so bad though. You get captured and then put into a room with a bunch of books and you can just hang out and read for awhile and maybe go to some classes with communist schoolteachers. We don't want to hurt ya! We just wanna reeducate ya!

leftists fetishize reading. they love rattling off the names of books they've never cracked open. has anyone ever actually read through kropotkin? has anyone who's actually read kropotkin found any useful insights into 21st century politics and society at all? and yet they idolize the man.
they don't read books. they watch youtubers who read wikipedia summaries. the older and more irrelevant the book the better, because dealing with serious, non-utopian solutions to contemporary problems can get in the way of virtue signalling.
it's the same reason they favor makhno and trotsky and the CNT-FAI as their brand - the more of a loser, the better. if someone never held serious power, then their policies can be whatever you imagine them to be.
