I want to learn more about socialist and modern capitalist theory(modern from what I know capitalism has changed so much since Adam Smith that it would be irrational to apply it today while socialism has remained largely the same with some offshoots). The problem I have with books I have read on them especially socialism is that they read like propaganda as opposed to an objective telling of the theory behind these idea and their shortcomings, so what recommendations does /lit/ have for books on these theories that read more textbooks/tomes as opposed to propaganda books?

P.S. I know every book will have some bias but I want one that has as little as possible.

You're actually wasting your time. 99% of economics is made up. The alleged dismal science is only dismal because it attracts retarded pseuds.

A lot of these books are just that, theory. It has little meaningful basis in reality.

This, theory is shit, action is all that applies.

There's very little socialist economic theory because they don't want you to know that socialist economies are intrinsically dysfunctional. Modern socialist "economists" criticize capitalist economics, or they write vague wankery piggy backing off MMT with no actual detail or policy. You're better off finding academic economics texts analyzing specific socialist economies.

This guy is right. The only useful part of economics is financial analysis and business management. Everything else is just conjecture and data made to fit a model, until inevitably it doesn't work anymore

What you two are both after is Austrian economics.

Free Our Markets: A Citizens' Guide to Essential Economics by Howard Baetjer Jr
Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt
Economics for Real People by Gene Callahan

Read in that order and if you're still interested check out mises institute.
