When you get to the Stencil as a quick change artist (chapter 5?) make sure to put in the time to understand what is actually going on with it. Many seem to have issues with it and it throws them off for the rest of the book.

I used the Pynchon wikia and Reddit reading circle and took notes on the various characters that appear in Stencil chapters. At the end I was in this state of blissful pretentiousness. It is a great book. Also read the Slow Learner chapter about Egypt.

managed to make decent time, so I got to read up to the bit where Benny gets off the ship after getting his hand caught in a mousetrap. Already liking it a fair bit so far, just hope I can keep track of all the names because I'm usually fucking terrible with names. Very glad I'm enjoying it, since the only other Pynchon I've read, Crying of Lot 49, I did not like whatsoever.
