I know what it is, you apparently do not know what history is or the distinction between history, protohistory and prehistory or that Hyperborea stands upon weak legs with little in the way of concrete evidence an relies mostly upon myth.

Poverty is relative. People in poverty today have a better quality of life than the average person in the 19th century.

>lives that they prefer to end
You say this but its false and just shows how sheltered you are living in a western nation in the 21st century. No one in a syrian refugee camp would prefer to end their life, even if it is a shitty life by your standards.

so? more people will not end their lives in 2021 than entire centuries in history. your fixation on absolute figures make you sound like an utter autist. any normal person can see that increasing population does not exclusively mean increasing "suffering."

>> No.18856763

>>18856262
Not even remotely true. One could argue that the level of global suffering is consistent throughout the ages— Neither getting better nor worse due to every societal change having pros and cons.

per capita rates are increasing in a lot of places too, it's not about absolute or proportional
but when we talk about total suffering it makes sense to look at the absolute numbers, yes

There are also more people living right now that people who have died throughout history so it is expected that suffering also increases but i would say that the suffering per capita is much lower than at any other moment in history. Why? because the possibilities for personal fulfillment are more accesible to us than they were to our predecessors.
