What philosophical systems tackle the fact that 1/3 of human life is spent lying motionlessly on a bed? Like the idea that we're yet to draw a meaningful distinction between the mind state during sleep and death, or the meaning of dreams, or the growth of civilization around sleeping cycles, or the effects of sleep deprivation and distortion of circadian rhythms on the psyche, or the psychological joy humans draw from concluding their days by giving up on their consciousness and lucidity?

Sleep more my dude. I used to sleep 4-5 hours during my college years since I was juggling studies, books, and vidya, and I was miserable. Nowadays I'm a 30 yo boomer but I sleep 7-8 hours and I feel better than ever.

>he fact that 1/3 of human life is spent lying motionlessly on a bed?
doesnt seem particularly important philosophically desu senpai.
>Like the idea that we're yet to draw a meaningful distinction between the mind state during sleep and death
that seems a little more philosophically interesting, though a goodd proportion of philosophers talk about the question of altered conscoius/mutability of aperent reality and what can or cannot be known in death.

Sleep can exist as a form of meditation, which can be harnessed to achieve enlightenment if you put your mind to it.

Literally Freud.
Sleep, according to him, is a retreat from the world, a space where our unrestrained ego can express itself without being bothered by the external world - a state that imitates our earliest life, in the womb. We even oftentimes set our bodies in the fetal position, again resembling the prenatal state of living.

It doesn't really matter when you sleep as long as you're consistent about it

>> No.18869138

I haven't worked night shift in 2 years but I still find myself wanting to sleep during the day and wake up in the evening. It will have long term consequences. But then again I never had a stable sleeping schedule out of high school so it might not bother other people too much

Honestly one of the worst threads on the entire website right now. Kill yourself. I beg you, for your own sake, as well as that of your parents and the society around you.
No, nigger. It's not crazy at all. And it's a completely meaningless statistic.

to succeed in going back in time when opportunity existed and you didn't have to be born rich to avoid a life in the gutters

Oh look he graduated from a prestigious school because his daddy sent him to it
I graduated from fuckhole town's shitty public high school where teachers assigned grades based on who was whose son and fell asleep during lessons
everything I have learned was on my own but it doesn't matter that I'm better educated than the guy who came out of rich kids' schools because contacts are all that matter, nobody gives a fuck about your education or your skills

I dream you are there with me
Though you are far away
I know you'll always be near to me
I go to sle-ep

Well yeah, 8 hours a day keeps dementia away.
The ones who brag about sleeping 4 hours will eat their own words when they forget who they are by the time they are 65.
