I suspect if the seller has a history of scams they will just refund the money without question. You may need to show that you attempted to sort it out with the seller before they do anything, I had done this before contacting abebook directly and the sellers were non-responsive. You sort of sound like you are assuming you got scammed and just ordered the book? If so you will have to wait a reasonable amount of time for shipping and see what happens.

Correct. I just bought this morning.

There seems to be enough evidence that I either won't get it or it'll be not what was advertised. Abebooks I can get it refunded in the event it was not as advertised, but it seems like there's not much I can do if it doesn't show up since you have to send it back before you can get a refund.

You are panicking. They have a 5 star rating on abebooks, which means 96-100% successful completion, the only people who are going to go to a third party site to write a review are those few that got screwed or felt like they got screwed, not the people who had no issues. Chances are everything will be fine.

I got a brand new, freshly-printed copy of an expensive art book through Abebooks for about $170bux. Used copies normally retail anywhere between 250-500bux. I've also gotten some harder-to-get Cioran books and a few other things from them. I like Abebooks.

You can not know that statistic without knowing their total number of transactions. You seem to be trying to convince yourself that you got screwed over despite having little evidence that you were. Been using abebooks for almost as long as it has existed, no issues or complaints to speak of, occasionally get a book that was not accurately described but they were always so cheap that I expected as much when I ordered, have had two actual issues and both were settled.
