I dug this book just for the cool atmospheres and desert vibes. Towards the end I was a little worried it was gonna be one of those books that ends and leaves you with absolutely no resolution that you're just supposed to pretend is like nourishing, but to my surprise literally in the last 100 pages of this book or so the whole entire vibe changed and my entire reading experience up that point was changed. Really enjoyed overall would read again.

DFW, Bolano, Houellebecq, Knausgård, Vodolazkin, my diary desu. Literature in the 21st century has so far been alive and well. It's only focusing on awful female writers from NY or similar ethnonarcissists / Franzen tier hacks that will make one think otherwise

Hey, did you know Bolaño had a manuscript for a sixth book but never finished it?

The only next great novel I have hopes for is a posthumous masterpiece on the 21st century from Pynchon.

My words were that it has "SO FAR" been alive and well. We'll see what happens next. I unironically still believe the right wing twitter ebook sphere is the primordial ooze for something worthwhile. Especially considering how good the aphorisms of Hisperic are

Yeah, it's like someone was back in the 19th century and lamenting the success of all the bestsellers from back then who everyone's forgotten.

Crimes is Omega tier. Annoying to read, but remove it or cut it to a hundred pages and you have a much weaker overall novel
