Any books that talk about the death of God and what can replace it? Obviously "God" isn't coming back anytime soon. The masses are too secular but what could replace it? What could make people build cathedrals and write Hymns again?

I could conduct decades of in depth research on the question and never arrive at an answer of whether "God" is "Dead," or even whether the masses are secular. stop reading

The statistics show that the masses are secular. There aren't many people who regularly go to church or a have relationship with God

What "masses" are you talking about? Liberal arts majored college students from gringoland?
In reality, the proletariat in poorer countries (the majority of the world) cling to their faith, even if this is done for a purely cultural reason.

That's the problem, the first world in no way consists the majority of the population. The masses are actually very religious.

Late modern society is principally concerned with purchasing things, in ever greater abundance and variety, and so has to strive to fabricate an ever greater number of desires to gratify, and to abolish as many limits and prohibitions upon desire as it can. Such a society is already implicitly atheist and so must slowly but relentlessly apply itself to the dissolution of transcendent values. It cannot allow ultimate goods to distract us from proximate goods. Our sacred writ is advertising, our piety is shopping, our highest devotion is private choice. God and the soul too often hinder the purely acquisitive longings upon which the market depends, and confront us with values that stand in stark rivalry to the only truly substantial value at the center of the social universe: the price tag.

David Bentley Hart

Capitalism killed him and all of the coping cunts who are saying muh masses are still spiritual are so goddamn unaware and they don't even know how bad things are as a fundamental world spirit.

>> No.18941851

>the masses are still extremely spiritual, if not more
>yet the ills of modernity are caused by a departure from spirituality

>> No.18941879

The masses embrace spirituality when life is hard and devout belief dulls the pain of their existence. They become secular when spiritual laziness is more of a balm than the promise of an afterlife as respite. They embrace exotic foreign mysticism when they grow bored and self indulgent. This is the way of the masses. It is of little concern to anyone of character.

Look up ‘Desecularization’ anon. Fundamentalist religious groups like Orthodox Jews, Mormons, the Amish etc. are outbreeding the rest of us. Ceteris paribus, in 200 years the majority of Americans will be Amish.
