I've accepted that most colleges will try and force some postmodernism critical theory in the curriculum. at mine I have to take an "american diversity" class to graduate, and in my beginning music class we are working on "deconstructing the assumptions of western classical." but the only real education there is is self-education, and the uni I'm going to has a great big library with a whole lot of books, so I'll sit through all the postmodernism and enjoy reading great, timeless works, and further my education that way.

Also theres actually some old family stuff in German I'd be interested to get translated if you'd be interested in that sort of thing.

I'm lucky to live in a town with a reputable state university that's expanded its prestige in recent years. That seems to be the trajectory of academia in general, as private or elite institutions rapidly decline.
I study philosophy, and while there are problems with academic philosophy, it has taught me that I wouldn't have gotten far on my own. Still, if I get a career opportunity going I might drop out.

I dropped out of college 9 years ago and always dream of going back. I got a severe case of social anxiety and culture shock when I first went there. Plus I was completely unprepared for school. I was dirt poor and my family gave me 300 dollars to support myself for the semester and that was immediately spent on two books so I had no money. I didn't deserve to go to such a prestigious private university.
Now, 9 years later, I hope I can at least attend a community college. But I had some problems with the application so I couldn't finish it in time.
I just want a degree.

I'm studying political science at the university of Cyprus. I grew to absolutely despise politics despite my past obsession with them, and thus i sort of dislike my major. But hopefully it will help me find a comfy office job in the government where due to corruption and dysfunctional bureaucracy i will have plenty of time to read, write and shitpost while working.

Maybe you have problems with people in general and it wouldn't be better in another setting either, but at university you are forced to face them. Would you feel better if you just stayed away from then whenever possible? You don't necessarily have to engage with other students.
As for writing anxiety and deadlines, I have those issues to. Whenever it's time to sit down to write something or even just read some material related to my thesis I feel a very strong urge to do absolutely anything else. No idea how to fix this, I'm not sure it's possible if you are not interested in writing whatever you need to write. The only thing I found that actually helped with deadlines was to just ignore them and write things as soon as possible. Even if an assignment's due date is a month away, I start doing it the day we get it. It makes some periods unreasonably busy, but it's a way of freeing yourself of deadlines.
