logic deals with a really small subset of things, precisely those which can be turned into predicates
metaphysics deals with anything that you can hold a notion about including the subconscious 'nature' that logic cant get at

You should have a basic understanding of philosophy first. It doesnt take much but it'll help a lot. You should look into intro texts like The Story of Philosophy by Durant first. If you dont understand the basics of modern epistemology, a lot of what's in the book I reccomended will go over your head

Maybe take a college class.
Starting out with the Greeks: five Socratic dialogues surrounding his trial and death. Euthyphro, the Apology, Crito, Meno, and Phaedo. Some say you need to read the Iliad, need to know about Theseus, need to know the presocratics. But not really, and a lot presocratic material is lost. If you read further Platonic dialogues, Socrates will become more of a literary device or character for Plato, though for various reasons the five mentioned are associated with the authentic Socrates, by some scholars. This will give you a basic introduction to the beginnings of western philosophy.

This one is pretty great

It's just a number of essays and excerpts from major developments in philosophy of science. You could read through this in order, and learn a lot. The Cartwright paper was my favorite.
