When you hang yourself, typically you don't break your neck and immediately lose consciousness/die. You struggle for a good 2-5 minutes before you actually die. In that timespan you will regret your actions and attempt to free yourself, only you won't be able to. I imagine most people who hang themselves end up trying to save themselves but fail because they can't relieve the pressure on their neck.

what he said, also this fuckboy believed in like eternal life and stuff so you'll regret killing yourself. Also this is in the introduction to the aesthetic point of view if I remember correctly and the point is that there is an impotence to being alive, not being able to do anything that will have meaning. Later the ethical point of view pushes the point that "the good life" has meaning.

Nothing hurts more than death. When you wake up dead (as a ghost) looking at your body and knowing that you just threw away the rest of your god given years and you can't go back, you will regret it immensely. The sadness of your death will torment you forever, untill god judges you at the last day, then unless you were know and owned by Jesus, he will torment you in hell with the devil and his minions and the Jews and all those who refused to believe the truth
>Tldr don't ever kill yourself, Youl regret it

literally god said it
>And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
>Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
>Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
>And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

they had one. that covenant was undone and a new one was established which opened that covenant to anyone who seeks God. it is not longer a covenant only for Israel. Israel is and always will be invited, but they refuse Jesus Christ as their savior, because they didn't like what He did, so they still place Moses in the position that they should place Jesus.

the establishment of the new covenant is found in the Old Testament. You are free to go do that research and return to this thread. though your condescending attitude reveals that you just want to argue nonsense without actually learning anything.

What if one looks back and realizes that there was a better option despite one's sureness?
Hint: you can still regret your past actions without wishing you acted differently (because you know you acted to the best of your ability), that is kind of what Kierkegaard was going for

wasting time worrying about the past is futile. the only thing that makes sense to worry (and i use the term worry very loosely here) is what is currently happening at the moment, today. you can't change the past, so worrying about it brings you distress that does you literally no benefit at all.

>> No.19131424

>wasting time worrying about the past is futile.
That's exactly what I (and Kierkegaard) am saying.
Regret is not mutually dependent on worrying, i.e. you can still regret something without kicking yourself over it.
An example would be using your regret of the past to learn for the sake of the future.
The excerpt above can basically be summarized as "Each choice will have its consequences and yet you will never know of all of them until after the fact, so you will regret whatever you end up doing either way... so stop worrying and just do it."

>An example would be using your regret of the past to learn for the sake of the future.
Thank you for clarifying this. That's basically learning from your mistakes. Using your failures as a motivator to grow into a much more beneficial person. Yes, if that is what he meant, then I agree.
