Schopenhauer may be the most based philosophy in history. You could never refute the core of his philosophy, because he was a crude inhuman realist. And the parts that you can refute are precisely the parts in which he wrote deliberated ad-hominenms because he thought them were funny.

Today I will remind them:

He scheduled his lectures to coincide with those of the famous philosopher G. W. F. Hegel, whom Schopenhauer described as a "clumsy charlatan". Hegel was facing political suspicions at the time, when many progressive professors were fired, while Schopenhauer carefully mentioned in his application that he had no interest in politics. Despite their differences and the arrogant request to schedule lectures at the same time as his own, Hegel still voted to accept Schopenhauer to the university. However, only five students turned up to Schopenhauer's lectures, and he dropped out of academia. A late essay, "On University Philosophy", expressed his resentment towards the work conducted in academies.

I'll add one funny bit: Schopenhauer got a teaching position only because Hegel voted for it, even though Schopenhauer had been unnecessarily rude to him during the job interview. Basically: the only job Schopenhauer ever held was given to him by the guy he hated the most (a guy who had always been nice and supportive in his regards).

Pinkard's Hegel biography talks about it in depth. The biography is quite engaging, you don't need to know much about Hegel to read it, and it will give you a nice overview of the cultural life of early 19th century Germany

I'm sure that if I were to post an infinite list (mostly comprised of non-philosophers, like yours) of people who were influenced by Hegel to justify the goodness of his works, you would have called me an idiot.
Anyway, the only names that have some philosophical relevance in that list are, imho, Bergson, Horkheimer (who wasnt a Schopenhaurian and who used very little of his philosophy in his works), Dilthey (same as Horkheimer), Nietzsche (who rejected Schopenhauer's philosophy), and Wittgenstein (who was essentially an autodidact pseud when it came to the history of philosophy).

Don't read anything secondary, you will just waste your time. You could start with On the fourfold root..., but I don't think that's needed (even if he constantly says to read other books), so just get right into The World as Will and Representation and you'll get his whole philosophy. It's not that hard and the other works are mostly just building on it or not related to his philosophy.

Yeah Nietzsche was definitely a goofball who took himself way way too seriously.

I don't know if it was Kaufman's doing but in GM III, Nietzsche quotes "nothing is true, everything is permitted". kaufman thinks that this is somewhat related to Ivan Karamazov's philosophy "god is dead, everything is permitted" but it actually is just from the hashashins. quote being more famous now because of Assassin's creed but back then no one would've gotten the reference unless the translator is also versed in that part of history.

Reminder:
>Johanna was an abusive wife to his father and an abusive mother to him. She even threw Schopenhauer down a flight of stairs once when he talked back to her. Also, Schopenhauer’s father (whom he was very close with) was believed to have committed suicide when Schopenhauer was seventeen and it has always been a rumor that Johanna Schopenhauer was a contributing factor to his suicide. After her wife died, Johana left for Weimar to join the free love movement and follow her dreams of becoming a writer, leaving Schopenhauer behind. And when Schopenhauer later wanted to move to Weimar to pursue philosophy, she desperately tried to convince him not to move to Weimar, saying she couldn’t stand to be around him.

I agree. Schopenhauer didn't interact with Kant (that's how OP's pic makes it out to be). Schopenhauer took a part of Kant's work and mixed it with Upanishads for his philosophy.

Also Nietzsche was actually motivated by Schopenhauer in his philosophy. His concept of "the will to power" is partially inspired from Schopenhauer.
