Is Growth better than Hunger?

Hunger is one of those tortured artist novels that is great when you are around 20 and one of the best of the ilk. Growth of the Soil is a wonderfully subtle commentary on society and pride that is sadly read as a pastoral idle by many. They are both good, which is better depends on where you are in life, most people seem to grow out of Hunger but it is very important to those that read it at the right time in their life. Growth of the Soil is a work which grows with you, each reading bringing new insights to life. I would be hard pressed to say which is better, they both fill their role wonderfully.

Personally I would buy A Hero of Our Time, The Complete Novels of Flan O'Brien and Peter Pan. (I loved Flan O'Brien's first novel and I just want to read the other two the most)
