Which books does /lit/ consider to be mandatory reading for the growth and development of western men? I'm thinking something like pic related

These are incompatible ideologically. You need to rethink this. I would recommend reading Guenon.

Drop the teenage faggotry, read real men, if you want to know about western men.

I always find it interesting when someone says "drop the teenage faggotry", are you saying that you never read entry-level stuff?
If yes than you lack common knowledge, just because something is less known =/= better or more useful

From your list, I'd only keep
>Bible (but OSB instead of KJV or the like)
>Mein Kampf (more for historical purposes)
>RAtMW (but it's not good enough on its own)
Then, I'd add
>Abolition of Man by Lewis (ethical foundations replacing Peterson)
>Man & Technics by Spengler (kind of a sensible mix between Nietzsche and Kaczynski)
>Sun and Steel by Mishima (replace basic barbell training; no point in reading a textbook on exercising. It's more important to fix your mindset)
And then as bonus supplementary reading, I'd have
>Eumeswil by Jünger
>The Old man and the Sea by Hemingway
>Faust by Goethe
>Ethics by (((Spinoza))) (a Jew, but a good Jew like (((Bobby Fischer))))
>Imperium by Yockey
Memebooks worthy of reading anyway
>Industrial Society & Its Future by Kaczynski
>History of Central Banking by Goodson
>The Selfish Gene by Dawkins

I don't like this book since it's a deranged rant at a caricature of modern thought based on Lewis' uncharitable interpretations of a schoolbook. It would be much better to read a serious Christian ethicist (of which there are hundreds) or an ethics philosopher like Macintyre.

Not just ethical foundations - aesthetic foundations as well. He was basically right but instead of prenatal mind shaping it happens in childhood.

He refers to dumb shit that's pushed by edgy teenagers on reddit and instagram. Mein kampf is a terrible fucking book, 12 rules for life is a consoomer tier supermarket aisle book. However, I do concede that the bible is a good choice.

Because Faust is about constant struggle where one is perpetually tempted by earthly pleasures and yet the satisfaction is earned not through the physical, but due to the ideal. The Faustian spirit is one of endless desire for more while ringing with one's deep inner conflict and dissatisfaction with what is given. The long awaited salvation is only being offered at the very end to those who never gave up in their fight.

>deranged rant at a caricature of modern thought based on Lewis' uncharitable interpretations of a schoolbook.
Well, if that's not ironic given the uncharitable and reductionistic caricature you just gave of his book. And while I appreciate 'serious' Christian ethicists, I believe that Lewis' book appeals much more to the layman who is not interested in autistic philosophical analysis, but rather seeks inspiration within one's immediate intuition, hence why it's a fantastic book for the average confused Western men that have lost sense of direction within the modern world.
>>19939712
Absolutely, though I think that a lot of people aren't as interested in the understanding of the aesthetic, hence why I didn't emphasize it.

Christianity has been a complete dead-end for me as far as meaning goes. The Bible should still be read because it's the most important book in western literature

It's not so much about meaning for me either. The way I see religions in general is that they, much like traditions as a whole, carry a lot of intuitive value regardless of their technical validity. Reading the Bible for its historical or intuitive value for me is reason enough.
