1994029 No.1994029 [Reply] [Original]

2666 - Roberto Bolano
The War of the End of the World - Mario Vargas Llosa
The Stand - Stephen King
Under The Dome - Stephen King
Les Miserables - Victor Hugo

All unabridged where applicable, all very enjoyable reads, and that 'epic' feel.

>> No.1994044

No gushing praise for Infinite Jest, and how 'relevant' and 'prophetic' it is?

>> No.1994050

How do you define epic?

>> No.1994078

>>1994050

Criteria vary, but for it's usually very long, large cast of characters, and a 'sweeping' feel to it.

>> No.1994079

None of those are epics except maybe Les Mis

Don't add the 'sweeping' feel bit to it, it makes vague an otherwise straightforward concept.

I liked the book for the most part, sure, but my god, that ending was shit.

What? I ask again, what?

Sunhawk has notoriously--nay, infamously--bad taste. He's just about the last person on /lit/ whose opinion you'd take seriously.

Where have you been?

Really? I could have sworn that he was the only tripfag approaching decent on this board. I guess I'm thinking of someone else.

>Under The Dome - Stephen King
Wow
It was a great book but the ending was just a wank.

>> No.1994667

Stop it, you are making Bolano look bad by saying you like him.

You're thinking of me.
