Want a fun fact?
>As early as the early 2nd century, there is evidence that a codex—usually of papyrus—was the preferred format among Christians. In the library of the Villa of the Papyri, Herculaneum (buried in AD 79), all the texts (of Greek literature) are scrolls (see Herculaneum papyri). However, in the Nag Hammadi library, hidden about AD 390, all texts (Gnostic) are codices.
The very format of books were literally invented by Christianity! Oh look, the cope-mobile is out front, better go hop in

City-Slicker and suburbanite thread. You imagine these "battles" and other made up nonsense because you live in the middle of an enviroment with a lot of people so you think anything that comes your way is God's doing. It isn't. I've lived my life for a few decades in the country. Guess what? Not much happened. If there was a God, you would think he would make my life more interesting. People and things happening. I see city slickers with fancy jobs and fancy cars and they think god blessed them and they think their battles are made up stuff like anxiety and depression. Ludwig Feuerbach lived in rural seclusion to the point of financial ruin. Guess what? No God, No battles. Fun fact, pagan originally meant someone who didn't live in cities, they actually didn't even subscribe to the LARP religions now called 'paganism', they believed in totally nothing in most accounts, and it was a word that meant hick back then. Cities lend themselves to grandiose thoughts and just-world thinking. Go live in the sticks for a few decades, you'll discover (to your disappointment, not mine) that your life isn't a movie.

God doesn't appreciate gold and linen, he appricates humbleness.

Pride and greed are sins.

Diligence, humility and honest prayer are the only thing that is worth something.

agreed. he's ok with leather and reading his story without an ugly cover, I suppose. the gold on the page corners isn't real btw. again, it's worth 20 bucks or two novels. also, and most importantly, bibles aren't objects to own, but to pass down to your children.

Yeah ofcourse some embellishment to indicate you treasure the book isn't sinful. Just don't let it become extravagance.

Personally I prefer to keep my bible plain and modest. It's just blue leather with the word bible written in gold colour on the side.

But I totally see how you wouldn't want your bible to be poor quality.

No yahweh did.

If your Jewish you can embellish your scrolls all you want.

But need I remind you:
"I tell you the truth,it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

>"I tell you the truth,it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
What does that have to do with temples?

>> No.20541093

>>20541039
No, yahweh is the old testament god, worshipped by the jews. The Christian God is a combination of the old testament god and Jesus. As Jesus is a aspect of God on earth his teachings are more important than previous interpretations of gods will (which are still as important just not as important)

If the church is rich then the curch can't enter heaven. And what kind of spiritual leader can't even make it to paradise?
