Tell on-topic but low-effort posters to lurk more or fuck off.

I noticed this too, I like aruging with christians, and I noticed that the threads seem to get pulled down when the argument begins to go somewhere. that was kind of what I was getting at, but I think you could still reverse the brainwashing effectively. it is just much harder. maybe a better analogy over all is the difference between heating a room with a radiator and cooling a room with an air conditioner. heating the room is far less complicated a process, send hot liquid through the radiator pipes and the heat will naturally disperse into the room(this is the initial indoctrination of disenfranchised youth). The process of cooling the room however is much more complicated, the air conditioner pulls hot air from the room, compresses it to heat it up, dumps the extra heat into a separate heat sink, takes the newly cooled air through an expansion process to bring it back down to normal pressure, and then dumps it back into the system (this is analogous to removing the programming from an indoctrinated person). Everything posted is checked by this clump of most-active users against a few dogmatic principles to determine whether it is based or cringe, and various canned insults are then returned, in a chinese room sort of fashion where one cannot say for certain if there is any underlying intelligence. Something like this happens on any forum and has always happened, but what sets the last half decade or so apart is how staunchly ideological the concerns are. Even though the users are anonymous, what they have made of that anonymity is rather shallow. What makes them anonymous isn't the lack of persistent identity; it's that the post could have come from any one of them because there is so little differentiation. They do not try to read or understand or opine on a text, but pallidly scrape it for bits and pieces they can use to signal their bona fides to other posters, who are doing the same thing. Literary otaku have been replaced by political otaku, whose prime interest is to collect and show off their inventory of beliefs.

I posted about this extensively in previous meta threads but the issue is that the "different look" is not just different in some arbitrary way, it's different in a meaningful way in that the difference reflects a degree of homogenization between this board and the rest of the "culture war" sphere on the internet. /lit/ used to be more of an island, so it was garbage but it was more distinctive and thus had some degree of charm and novelty.
