I really enjoyed it. I liked Bobby as a character and his interactions with his weird friends reminded me a lot of Suttree, probably my favorite book. The short chapters featuring Alicia and her hallucinations were kino. The only thing I thought was missing from this book, that I was expecting, was Cormacs signature dense prose. There's really not a lot of that, just some passages near the end of the book, otherwise it's mostly dialogue, which I still liked.

The shape of her coat lay dusted in the snow where she’d dropped it and she wore only a white dress and she hung among the bare gray poles of the winter trees with her head bowed and her hands turned slightly outward like those of certain ecumenical statues whose attitude asks that their history be considered. That the deep foundation of the world be considered where it has its being in the sorrow of her creatures.

When you read The Passenger and then Stella Maris there are lots of little details that hit hard. For example, at the beginning of TP, he says one of her yellow boots has fallen off. At the end of SM, you hear her asking to borrow a coat and some goloshes. (For her final walk in the woods.) So the boot fell off because it was too big for her, because she borrowed it. That makes her seem so small and childlike and vulnerable :(

Poor Alicia :(

Like the other books, it's hard to really get it right after finishing it. I thought it was worth reading and I definitely enjoyed it throughout. Interesting that she still ended in the cold.
