Every time I come up with a decent concept I realize it's garbage a couple of hours later. What's a good story that hasn't been written /lit/? I'm kinda thinking something along the lines of The Old Man And The Sea or Moby Dick, but that's been done already. Maybe something like a Tolstoy novel set in the future, I don't know, help a nigga out here.

3 tries so far. Will be writing for a while then stop for a while then the story thread burns out completely. No idea how these people in their twenties are able to write a full novel and stay on track.

You just have to say fuck all that and not give a damn. Fuck the prose, fuck the poetics and just write. You are not here to make yourself look like a genius. Don't care about how clever or articulate it is.

I have an outline and make notes for a new novel but I don’t know. Novel writing doesn’t seem as important to me now in my mid-twenties as it did when I was in my teens.

I'm more of a short stories kind of lad, anon. Not that I'm any good at them nor do I produce them frequently, but I get more hope out of them than if I embarked on putting together a novel. Just need to find a writing competition in this country.

Almost 20k words. I think I'm the editor of this story, not the writer, I can't write if I force myself to come up with something. Sometimes I find something in my head and I just write it down, I give it shape. It's a pleasant experience.

I wrote a 50k word outline in like a week, then stopped working on the novel and haven't touched it in 4 months. It might be over for me.

I am incapable of writing a "story book"...
whenever I attempt to write a story, all that I can produce are either enigmatic allegories as limerick, or idiotic stream of consciousness cliché nothings.

English as a contemporary literary language is totally exhausted and suitable only for Tweets, YouTube comments, Twitch chat spam, ChatGPT essays and news articles, and international professional use. Perhaps God is dulling the creative potential of the English language as adequate compensation for its contemporary worldliness... Any forward thinking writer worth their salt will be writing in some collage of World English including the Pidgin and. Creoles.
