How do you defend your library against these demons? Theyve started to gnaw at my more expensive books.

They can't climb up smooth surfaces, so a china bowl with a paper ramp should work. You can put something carby (like bread) as bait.

Side note, these things are absolutely pathetic I have no idea how they aren't extinct, I once wetted my hand and dripped a drop of water onto one out of curiosity, and it just instantly disintegrated and died

>Before silverfish reproduce, they carry out a ritual involving three phases, which may last over half an hour. In the first phase, the male and female stand face to face, their vibrating antennae touching, then repeatedly back off and return to this position. In the second phase, the male runs away and the female chases him. In the third phase, the male and female stand side by side and head to tail, with the male vibrating his tail against the female.[13]

A China bowl with a paper ramp is a good start. Make sure to fill the bowl with Krugman as you won't mind his books getting eaten by silverfish

You've got damp/mould which is attracting them. Get some dehumidifiers and something like permethrin or diatomaceous earth to dust your books with.

Ant powder might work and they tend to hide in cracks under the floor and in corners so seal them up if you find any. They usually dissapear when the weather gets warmer.

It's not funny. It's terrifying. They are deterministic creatures executing a script by innate programming. People possess reason yet act out courtship rituatals and coupulatory activity in a simular fashion yet think they are in control and they are the actors.
