"Dante's Paradiso" is a story about a man named Dante who takes a trip to Heaven. He goes through nine different levels of Heaven and meets lots of special people, like angels and saints. He talks to them and learns about God and the universe.

Along the way, he thinks about big questions like what happens after we die, why bad things happen to good people, and what makes us who we are. He has a special helper named Beatrice who shows him the way and helps him understand what he sees. In the end, Dante gets to meet God and have a conversation with Him.

What is there to be explained? I thought most things were very clear in that part, and if something wasn't, most editions come with useful annotations. The plot is fairly simple: Dante meets Beatrice and slowly ascends through earthly paradise, moon, and planet to heaven, meeting the saints and theologians along the way, finally being able to look at God (your picture), described as a rose and the ultimate expression of love.

First you asked what makes it important. The influence it had over the works shown in that link. Now you asked what makes it good. Many things make it good. Inferno has great imagery, purgatorio encapsulates a lot of our human nature and our paths to repentence, and paradiso combines the beauty of describing something inimaginable with a blend of synthesizing medieval theological thought. To say Divine Comedy not good is embarrassing even if you don't like it.

This is a good point. Please consider that almost every work of literature encapsulates human nature, and nearly every single one does it better than dantes bullshit.
>and paradiso combines the beauty of describing something inimaginable with a blend of synthesizing medieval theological thought
What is that theological thought is it you're speaking of? What christian concepts are being discussed in that piece of shit book? How Danniggerte described his political opponents burn in hell?
>To say Divine Comedy not good is embarrassing even if you don't like it.
I'm not saying Divine Comedy is not good. It's shit. It's worth less than the literal shit turn I pushed out of my ass half an hour ago. And you're either a pretentious hack, a r*dditor or a soulless npc if you think otherwise.

And some of the other things he said are Catholic dogmas. I don't think it's fair to claim Dante as some kind of proto-Protestant, considering his strong insistence on the cult of saints. Comedy also strongly condemns heretics. I don't remember right now, but wasn't there something about the special role of Mary too? Dante is a big fan of Catholicism, just not the earthly practices of corrupt church officials.

I didn't. I said he wasn't a fan of the Church and to support that I pointed out he had criticisms beyond simply a Pope is a ruthless businessman. What you are saying does not make him a fan of Catholicism. Neither he nor the Church would class him as a fan. It's pretty easy to understand the position if you're familiar with Catholicism.
