Recently started looking into religious studies and esotericism and it has blown my mind wide the fuck open, religion is the biggest scam of all time. Literally everybody in any position of power in religious institutions is a metaphysical naturalist so for all intents and purposes religion just exists to grift the superstitious plebs. And the worst part is, the biggest one is a literal pedo cult. What the fuck man. What are some good places to start with literature against religion? Pic related seems cool, Jean Meslier was an 18th century French priest who upon death was discovered to have written a secret book about how religion is garbage and fake.

I base my actions on "charity" i.e. being as charitable to people and animals as I can, trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt (except religious demagogues) and wishing the best for everyone. The two Krishnamurtis (Jiddu Krishnamurti and U.G. Krishnamurti) are very good and interesting thinkers for this. U.G. is brought up more often here and on /x/ but I find him a bit cruder and shallower compared to Jiddu, although I think he attracts more interest online because of how much more bombastic he is, as well as how he talks about his reputed mystical experiences (which he of course deconstructs and denies the validity of, or their attainability by anyone else, but which still offer a lot of interest to people).

If God exists, I’m certain He loves decent, humanitarian, charitable, hard-working and virtuous agnostics who do good work for humanity than he does pompous, dogmatic, lazy and self-satisfied theists who spread dissension and hate.

Keep in mind being agnostic makes being charitable harder (statistically, personally, and metaphysically) but this is important - belief without fruit is worthless but belief with fruit is the best. That being said, also, sanctifying grace is just wag better than even being a decent person but I overall agree.
