Thucydides is a lot better
Xenophon wrote something comfy, but if you read Caesar you'll see how much he's lacking for a similar sort of structure. Xenophon was anything but a talented writer like Caesar of Thucydides.

But honestly, I've read most of those books. If you like Greek myths but haven't read the actual sources themselves, you'll love them.
Only thing I haven't been able to get into is the philosophy. Socrates just seems like a tard, and quite literally appears to be like a group of people xenophon spoke about that were destroying the youth (which is strange considering I think Socrates was one of xenophons teachers)

Hamilton becomes an invaluable reference when you need the base version of a myth before diving off into other versions and more critical assessments of it. More the realm of comparative religion or anthropology than philosophy.

Anon, I think your suffering from some sort of entertainment/multi-media burn out. Generally, I've noticed after I moved and had nothing. Is that when you actually get bored things like that become interesting, anything besides doing nothing is interesting if you don't allow yourself to lay on your bed or a couch.

Plato is the one and only philosopher you can just pick up and read with no outside knowledge, because it's actually the starting point. I first read his dialogues when I was 19-20 years old.

If you think Plato is so demanding it's likely no one reads him, r/books is absolutely more your speed and where you should be lurking. I don't even mean that in a mean way.
