Ask someone who eagerly pursued a PhD in Philosophy before realizing they had nothing left to gain from the discipline anything.

Why did you pursue a long-term degree 'eagerly' if you even had an inkling that you didn't have anything to gain from it?

>> No.2190600

do you blame yourself or the PhD in philosophy?

>> No.2190606

I didn't have an inkling until halfway through my second year. Now I'm going into Cognitive Science ;)

How does it feel to carry a PhD title and hundreds of books read under your belt and still be a fucking idiot?

Have you looked up the structure of University philopsphy? It's crap! The first several years are just you studying the history of philosophy, reading systems that others have developed that you won't necesarily agree with, studying that you would have otherwise had the freedom to ignore, because Neitzche is a jackass but your university requires you to study him anyway.

There are literally tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of philosophy students in America. If a thousand of them are lucky, they'll publish one or two blurbs in a newspaper. If a hundred of them are lucky, they'll write articles for websites which only have a very vague connection to philisophy. If ten of them are lucky, they'll write books that will be mild commercial successes, whose messages will inspire maybe a few dozen people, and the books themselves will be shelf fodder for used books stores by the end of the decade. Maybe one of these people will say something worthwhile.

The low-tier "Orientals" had this shit figured out thousands of years ago while all of your uptight European pricks have gone on defining more useless terminology, writing mostly terrible dry books, living miserable lives and bickering like a bunch pussies then killing themselves..

Yet these are the geniuses of philosophy? Shows how much they figured out. Have you read any Chinese poetry? Took westerner writers till the 20th century to even begin taking on some of the things these guys were doing 700 years ago. Asshole

OP, I'd put Nietzsche in god tier, Socrates and Lao Tzu in high tier, Kant in poor tier, and Mill in mid tier. Just saying.

Anyway, my questions for you... Into which of the five tiers would you place each of the following:

Kropotkin?
Goldman?
Voltaire?
Thoreau?
Tolstoy?
Stirner?
Proudhon?
