>Jules Verne - From The Earth to the Moon/Around the Moon

Exchanging it for a George Eliot novel I don't have because getting decent translations of Verne's stuff hard.

>Some Hobbit map/book thing

It's really shitty and I'm exchanging it as

>One of those cheap Chinese 7-inch TFT e-readers from my sister.

I thought it was shit at first but once I sorted out a decent colour scheme (black on grey surprisingly. Any white tends to kill your eyes with too much light.), it's now not too shabby. I can read manga OK on it to boot and Calibre's news feed downloads look awesome on it.

I think I'm going to be using it mainly for random Gutenberg stuff I can't get easily rather than pirating newer material (which I can get easily through the library) or a general replacement for "real" books. I've already polished off a cool overview of early Australian writers and have Caesar's Gallic War stuff on the go on it. I've also thrown on a few handy maps, random artbooks and video-wise I'll probably put some plays I haven't watched yet/docos.

If it doesn't work out I'll probably give it to my Mum.

The best part of Decline and Fall is the footnotes. Make sure to take the time to read them as you go through it - the main text itself is relatively dull, but Gibbon's voice really comes through in the notes.

Recieved a Kindle Fire and have $720, so I'm pretty set for a while as long as I stick close to my budget for everything.

Now the only problem is that I've still got the notion that ebooks are "illegitimate" stuck in my mind. If anyone can disprove it that'd be nice.
