I'm just sitting around, waiting for my Kindle to show up.

I've never been big on reading. What books would you recommend I download? What are your favorite books?

oh, Americans

If you have no idea on what to read at all, if you're not big on reading.. then why did you get a Kindle?
That's like getting a whole home cinema set and 50" super amoled+ tv if you only occasionally watch the news.

You could've just gotten yourself to the library and borrow free books while being advised by people who spend their lives with books.

I dunno, try Harry Potter or something?

Dumb posts.

I got a Kindle hoping that it will give me a reason to read more often. I don't have to go out to the library, or fork over $15 for a book anymore. The process just got a whole lot easier, for me.

I don't OP. I hear that the twilight saga is a bestseller. Start with that

You're just jealous because we're objectively better than you.

Also, nobody's answering OP's stupid question.
>What books would you recommend I download?
I'd recommend downloading the entry-level stuff in whatever you're interested in. Google it up.
>What are your favorite books?
Faulkner's good, Joyce's good when he's arrogant, Antrim's good, Henry James's good, Melville's good, Merrill's good.

Is everyone on this board like this? Why the fuck did I come here? You people are garbage.

No, you dumbass, if you aren't big on reading, don't buy a kindle. What is the point? Unless you're either a hipster or want to appear "intellectual".

Buy a Kindle if you enjoy reading, libraries are free, kindles aren't.

Most are; just ignore them. You'll probably get about 2-3 good responses.

Okay, let me fucking rephrase this. I've always LIKED the idea of reading, but I haven't gotten around to reading just because I'm fucking lazy. The Kindle makes things convenient enough that my laziness isn't an issue. I love books! I love them so much! Dune is my favorite thing ever!

>> No.2296468

I'm not going to bash you for buying a kindle. I'm going to bash you for ignoring the sticky at the top of the page.

Go look at that thing and find something. Anything. Just start reading whatever the hell you want.

Download a .mobi collection from pirate bay. Choose authors from there at random, or do a little research.

He has a valid point, all you've told us is you're not a 'big reader', so you get a recommendation for a commercial success with middle america. Yes he's being an ass, but do you really want to know the crazy shit /lit/ considers it favorites? Okay, read Finnegan's Wake, the Brothers Karamazov (only the P&V translation), Too Loud a Solitude, and the Animorphs.

>I've always LIKED the idea of reading.

>I love books.

It's almost like you don't even understand words.

But, we all have to start somewhere, I started by hoarding a shit ton of books from markets and charity shops and then ate my way through them, now I have a kindle and I read about three books at a time on it, so just do whatevers comfortable and whatever you have the attention span for. My first and still my favourite author was Irvine Welsh, I've never been able to find anything other than Trainspotting torrented though.
