I have to read and write an essay on one of these books for our English Final.

1984
Farenheit 451
In the Lake of the Woods
The Poisonwood Bible
Alias Grace
Grendel
Cold Mountain

Any recommendations?

Fahrenheit 451
It's easy to bullshit your way through that one, and for some reason, teachers eat it up.

If you want a good good book, pick 1984

If you want an easy book, pick "In the Lake of the Woods" or 451

The Poisonwood Bible. Barbara Kingsolver is so bad you'll never read another book again.

1984 has the best interesting device/plot used as the central theme...Poisonwood Bible is just too simplistic that it can be applied to several diverse themes since each characters conclusion reflected in their personality
