Britain often seen as a bootlicking society, but this doesn't really extend to corporations/big business. We're perhaps too jealous for that. That fuck-off thrill of not paying for something might be the only thing that unites us. You can see the Don't Pay movement building momentum in some really unlikely places; talk radio, Mail Online comments.

Something clicked and I started replaying Katawa Shoujo in French. Understanding maybe 40-50% with intuition and context has become 60-70%, the success feeling keeps me going. "Just" doing it, you know, can't explain it and don't need to, it just works.

Truth is I was actually a scared romanticist. I believed that there was something worthwhile or "good" out there,

A woman’s body, a woman’s skin, is the most delightful thing to touch that was ever made. Something strange, something unique takes place. The man and the woman are so close that nothing else exists for them and they become almost one creature. They’re closer to each other than they can ever be to God. Perhaps you think I blaspheme. What if I do blaspheme? They blaspheme the name of man and woman. And while we live, man and woman compose the world.

I remember watching that Christian apologetic movie "God's Not Dead" several years ago. The movie centered on a Christian student having a stand off with an atheist philosophy professor. Of course, the philosophy department is virulently anti Christian and super pro atheist and the student bravely uses apologetics to make his case.
Now I am a Christian and a philosophy student and I have never had this problem. Most philosophy professors, even if atheists, are very respectful and charitable to religious beliefs. The most I've ever had to encounter is a philosophy professor who really liked Hume. He made us read Hume's essay on natural religion. That's it. End of story. Done. He didn't even push the point or whatever. He just really likes Hume and wanted us to read him.

it must be understood that although this website is anonymous and anyone can post, historically and statistically the average poster is a white male living in the west between 20 and 30 years of age, with an interest in music, video games, anime, blockbuster films and top television shows. what is the meaning of this? that the average poster is simultaneously the most normie of individual while also vehemently "anti-normie" in mindset, especially in regards to women if they happen to be single. thus the anonymity of the site does not broaden the profile of an anonymous poster as someone from all walks of life, but rather narrows it down to the most generic stereotype of a typical 21st century random western guy

23348645

I'm struggling to describe this wave of dejection I've been stewing in lately as it circles me around the exit of some metaphysical toilet. It's a sense I haven't not done but rather developed anything, as in, while it's true materially speaking I have accomplished nothing the more severe thing is more internal. I've come to understand I lack the faculties do 'anything', that I lack very normal cognitive, emotional, reflexive, and psychological 'machinery' so that I've done nothing is wholly unremarkable as I'm without the means to do things. A person can have nothing and done nothing, or done such that what they have and have done equals out to nothing, but such a person would not be equal to me because in principle they are able to engage with and navigate the world. Their nothing is superior to my nothing, as they have the underlying asset of functionality, in a sense I am in debt. Only I don't think this is a debt that can be paid. Everyone has formative years, but I withdrew from and so rejected the world in mine that I'm unformed or deformed. Instead I developed into this consignation which is for life....I am deeply inept and weird in a way which I can barely express, which is apropos because it in turn is the best description of me, I am dysfunctional and dysfunction is me, that I can't describe this well is a fulfilment of my nature, it is my nature to be unable to parse, deal, and properly interact with things no matter how basic.
Nothing I try goes well. And I don't really try anything. And worst of all I can't bring myself to try to try. And though I've been observing this tired drama for 2 decades now it continues spiraling further inward into the maze, into the flush. Only recently have I understood something of the totality, as though I caught a glimpse of myself outside myself, and recognized some kind of mental cripple. Imagine if a child grew up in a room with no stimuli for 20 years. Would they be capable of language? Thoughts? What if they had stimuli but it was all negated and worthless and retarded? That's me, that middle aged child who can't bring themselves to do a single thing they should do although in the abstract I know exactly what I should do. I wonder if my life wasn't one big delusional state as a precursor to suicide, a means of manifesting it by leaving me no other choice, but even something like that is more dignified than my expected end, endlessly parasitic a malingering patient with no real problems except on the inside where my soul or my thoughts or my feelings or whatever is one giant cancer. I feel my parents neglected me except where they encouraged and enabled the worst habits to perfectly destroy me. I'm reminded of that line from Darlymple how the best propaganda is participatory because it forces people to participate and thus internalize their own destruction. See I don't reject my own agency here, but only insofar as it rejects me.

I just wish I had a better reason to be sad and a loser.

The merchants at netflix are making a bet on latin america. They show the set of the tv show a hundred years of solitude

https://youtu.be/jzILJXKa66I
With the streaming wars hotter than ever, Netflix is doubling down on its global ambitions. It’s a strategy that’s already reshaping the entertainment world, with series like Squid Game and Narcos becoming smash hits far beyond their countries of origin. In an era when entertainment companies are scrambling for dwindling revenues and attention, the future of the industry could depend on reaching a truly worldwide audience. The question is, can Netflix do it, and stay the king of streaming? Emily Chang travels to Colombia to visit one of Netflix’s most ambitious productions ever in Latin America, and gets a closer look at its global strategy with Vice President of Latin America Francisco Ramos and Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria. With new series on the way such as One Hundred Years of Solitude (Colombia), Senna (Brazil), El Eternauta (Argentina), and Pedro Páramo (Mexico), Netflix's ambitions are setting up for a bold new future in Latin America - and beyond.

I have to ask, where are you from? No one likes Russia but they 'advocate' for them as a preference over American hegemony throughout Europe. The current energy and migrant crisis are all American made, Germans in particular are angry because of Nord stream, Americans want to sell us their own gas and oil and are transparently treating us like a vassal state and there isn't a single politician who will stand up to it. 2. Most people are not convinced that the war was inevitable or that it was entirely instigated by Russia.

If you asked most Europeans: would you rather that Ukraine be a Russian puppet led state and we have officially good relationships with Russia and we profit from bilateral trade, or would you want to start a war with Russia, win 2/3s of Ukraine into the western sphere, but also destroy 2/3s of Ukraine. Destroy relations with Russia. Have huge inflation and economic hardships as a consequence. But lies don't change the past. The past is still there. Lies can craft a different narrative, but the past, the actual past, not the lie, has crafted the present.

Israel/Palestine is a very convenient example here.
The narrative is that Israel is a Jewish region that has somehow always been the land of Jews, since the times of Moses.
The past is the Jewish and Samaritan sects who converted to Christianity and then to Islam and are now collectively known as the Palestinians.
The narrative tries to explain away the Palestinians but the Palestinians have been crafted by the actual past, the truth.

Literacy and cultural decline are inseparable twins...the more severely in decline a culture is, the more literature it produces. That's why the golden age of greece and rome, or the founding period of the middle ages are illiterate, while almost all greek literature comes from pelopponesian veterans, the golden age of roman literature happened around the era of the fall of the republic and the ascendancy of Augustus, the middle ages become far better recorded right around the time it starts to take the turn towards the renaissance, and why post-medieval europe has been obsessively graphomanic.

In a world ravaged by cataclysmic events, where civilization teeters on the brink of collapse, four factions emerged from the ashes, each vying for dominance over the desolate lands. To the North stood the Techno Union, masters of advanced machinery and robotics, seeking to rebuild society through innovation and order. In the West, the Wild Ones roamed, a fierce tribe of nomads and survivalists, embracing the chaos of the wasteland as their own. To the South lay the Dominion, a once-mighty empire now ruled by an iron-fisted governor, clinging to power amidst the ruins. And in the East, the Mystic Brotherhood, keepers of ancient wisdom and arcane secrets, sought to unlock the mysteries of the apocalypse.

Amidst this turmoil, a figure emerged from the shadows, a hero and a pariah, known as Satanama. Once a loyal general in the Dominion's army, Satanama harbored a burning resentment towards the governor, who he believed had betrayed the ideals of the faction. With cunning and guile, he orchestrated a coup d'état, rallying disaffected soldiers and agents to his cause. In a swift and brutal strike, Satanama seized control of the Dominion's capital, casting the governor down from his throne.

But Satanama's betrayal sparked a chain reaction that engulfed the wasteland in flames. The Techno Union, fearing the rise of a new tyrant, mobilized their war machines for conquest, launching a devastating assault on the Dominion's borders. The Wild Ones, sensing an opportunity to seize territory and plunder resources, descended from the mountains like a swarm of locusts, wreaking havoc on both sides of the conflict. And the Mystic Brotherhood, seeing the balance of power shift, retreated to their hidden sanctuaries, biding their time until the dust settled.

Amidst the chaos and bloodshed, Satanama found himself torn between his thirst for power and his desire for redemption. As the factions clashed in a final, apocalyptic showdown, he confronted the ghosts of his past and the consequences of his actions. In a desperate bid to atone for his sins, Satanama forged uneasy alliances and led a ragtag band of warriors against the tide of war, hoping to salvage what remained of humanity's future.

But in the end, as the world burned and the dust settled, it was not victory or defeat that defined Satanama, but the choices he made in the face of annihilation. And as the survivors emerged from the wreckage, they whispered tales of a hero who dared to defy fate and challenge the gods themselves, a figure both reviled and revered, known to history as Satanama, the Betrayer of the South.

Yuki lay prone and motionless under the relentless roar of C-beams tearing apart the fragile, manufactured ionosphere above her, straining frantically against the urgent ministrations of an overfull bladder now perilously close to catastrophic failure from the increased pressure of the alien turf pressing it back against her other organs. She risked the slightest squeeze of her thighs together, hoping it would somehow aid against her impending humiliation. Caught so plainly between death and dishonor now, all the literary platitudes of her academy days had fairly fled her mind, and though it pained her, she resolved that she would prefer to be a pants-pissing coward than to end her life picked off by a precision strike in the attempt to salvage dignity by abandoning cover to squat over and water some exotic xeno crabgrass here at the end of the universe.
In truth, she had no way to tell from this position if her fairly delicate adaptive camouflage still functioned, or if she were simply bemusing her tormentors by dutifully and fearfully lying face-down in the xeno crabgrass thoroughly soaking her fatigues.
She allowed herself a single tear of regret and disappointment as the warm, wet inevitability finally washed over her privates, creeping down the gentle slope along the front of each thigh and pooling at the knees.
It's not so bad, she told herself. After all, I must not move. There could be replicants here. I HATE REPLICANTS.

Yuki had been lying in her own piss for some minutes when she realized gradually that the steam wafting past her was coming from her legs. As the ionizing radiation of the red star continued unimpeded, the surface of the xenomoon was warming rapidly, and even at full sun-shield she was beginning to feel a warmth from above as well. Her fatigues were compromised by the wetness, losing much of their temperature-dampening qualities, and her thighs were nearly burning.
Unbidden then, the words of her wafflebutt whore roommate from the academy upon being chided were recalled to Yuki: Life loathes the lukewarm.
Yuki grimaced wryly. She wondered where Katerina had found herself - a rich man and five kids? Late night cam shows? Working a corner?
In any case, lukewarm was no longer an option, and neither was cover. Praying to any and all ancestors who might overlook her recent dishonor, Yuki sprang to her feet and began to sprint for the last known location of the mobile base.

Trudging through knee-deep blue sludge in her soiled kit, Yuki found her mind wandering strangely back to Katerina, who she had been all too happy to forget once the wafflebutt had dropped out of the academy and she had finally been able to get some sleep without waking to the squeaking of a cheap mattress.
She told herself that she was of a higher moral quality than Katerina, more serious, more virtuous, but was she really so virtuous, or merely meek? Had she been taking the moral high road, on to nobler things, a better life with a man of similar morals, or was she fated to die in the searing mud here, never touched, never blossomed, having passed the window of age wherein an ugly duckling can "glow up" into an attractive, successful, and in-a-relationship adult?
At least this experience might help me finally become a decent writer, if I survive, she mused grimly.
The fumes from the near-boiling alien mud were leaking in somewhere around the edge of her faceplate, maybe damaged when she first fell prone during the bombing, and she was beginning to suffer auditory hallucinations, though her vision for now remained intact.
She heard the impassioned crooning of Morrissey with an intensity she never had before, filling her mind with all of her unsatisfied desires as she could feel herself slowly blooming below.
Jarring, then, were the shrieking arguments of her old squad over matters variously associated with, but never really properly about, religious convictions, echoing in her brain in rapid staccato and ruining the only morsel of pleasure she might otherwise have obtained from, or despite, this situation.
Of what intrinsic value was her own small life, she wondered, the bubbling muck now cloying to her thighs as she struggled on as if through quicksand. With so much around her destroyed, was there really any need to fight on, to continue, battered and dirtied and exhausted?
Of course there was. On she toiled despite it all.

Her protective visor went reactively opaque, so she heard and felt rather than saw the C-Beam which fell some indeterminate distance to her left.
The mud shrieked as it dried instantly into hard, craggy sand around her. Her thighs burned terribly as the urine coating them sublimated away into near-molten salt.
Reeling from the pain and overwhelming heat, still blind as a bat until the questionably functional servos decided - if ever - that it was safe to see again, she had no way of knowing exactly how far the C-Beam had fallen from her position. It was certain she had not been detected - or was not deemed significant, in any case - by the mere fact that she was not currently burning in a pit of molten glass, but she found it cold comfort indeed that the indiscriminate artillery strike on this moon was of such density that she would be caught up in the collateral by chance.
The atmosphere must be reaching the tipping point under this level of fire.
The metallic smell of ionization nearly overwhelmed her, and the hot, acrid air hurt her lungs, but she was still able to gasp for breath, so she knew it could not have landed too close to her, though not far enough away to prevent evaporation of ambient moisture.
Nothing left to do but to shrug off the burns, crawl out of this accursed hellpit of blue sand, and hope her genes weren't scrambled.

The blue sand seemed fucking interminable.
Inch by painful inch, elbow over elbow, she crawled. Her painfully singed legs sprung easily free of the spongy sand, but she was battered, burned, blind, and to add final insult to inury, her bladder was twinging already, perhaps never fully emptied from her prone position before, or perhaps refilling from her physical exertion. Right as a quirk of fate had dried her out, too.
Whatever.
Not far to the last location of the mobile base, and from there, the tracks would be easy to follow. Yuki insisted on not calculating to herself the probability of finding the mobile base intact under this level of carpet bombing.
Eventually, she wallowed her way blindly back into the slop, but by now it was boiling, certainly no respite from the scorching sands. DAMN the fucking Replicants.
The helmet was a dark, smothering tomb. She reached for her bolt cutters and deftly clipped through the safeties, pried open the enviroseal, and threw it off.
What difference did it make now?
Atmospheric irregularities could kill her in hours, but the filters were already not sufficiently filtering the fumes from this mud anyways. A C-Beam could kill her in a microsecond.
She must see and breathe while alive, after all.
The wind was blisteringly hot, and the air more filmy and toxic than before, but even so she felt invigorated by the wild wind through her hair.
She had been crawling uphill for some time now, and the mud was correspondingly lessened. Now she struggled on until she came to a relatively firm hilltop, and looking back down over it she saw her own tracks, where the C-Beam had struck close indeed, but not lethally so, and another two craters much closer indeed to the spot where she had originally lain prone.
There lay her validation, for what it was worth.

Thank you. I've only ever read DADOES and that was as a kid, what should I read of his?

How do I recover from a lost youth?
I flip flop because on one hand I have a strong vision for my life now, I also feel like I have a leg up on some people because I don't see a midlife crisis happening, I've already been through that nihilistic swamp and I've come out with a sense of optimism, but the sheer regret and sense of loss isn't going away.
Should I be trying to make up for it, or just move forward as I am.
