She was trying to read 50 books in 2012, and was doing a horrible job of it.

1. Young adult books.
2. Pulpy 'novels'.
3. Long series, endless sequels.
4. Stuff that she first saw on tv or as a movie.

I'm confused about this as well. My normal, casual reading habit has moved at a speed of one book weekly for well over a decade. This isn't impressive.

I generally went with the original publication format. Anyway, I counted 1Q84 as 1 book, not 3, so it balances out. Paul Auster rocks anyway.
