Hey /lit/
Im looking for an E-Reader and im thinking of getting an Amazon Kindle Touch.
Is this the best for reading books or is there a better one?
Also will the device block downloaded books?
I dont want to buy an E-reader and have downloaded books blocked.

I love mine. Some hate it. You cant put it in a baggy and read it in the tub because of the touch screen though, it skips tons of pages.

I love my kindle. Never went back. Pirate books all day :)

I don't know about the Kindle Touch but I got the 3G kindle a year or so back for christmas. I adore the thing. I ended up jailbreaking it so I could change the 'screen savers'. Then ended up pirating a couple books...

Doesn't seem like there's much in the way of anti-piracy with the device. Hell, I can still get on the amazon site on my kindle and download books from there.

Don't get the touch screen, just get the normal Kindle.

Oh, and also what's the best e-reader? Really seems to be down to preference. I remember a thread along these lines a while back. Seemed /lit/ liked the Nook ever so slightly more then the Kindle. Either way though it doesn't really seem like you can go too horrifically wrong.

FUCK KINDLES!!

Quick question, do you need to jailbreak it so you can upload pirated books on it?
>mfw when I just ordered the whole First Law Trilogy.
>mfw when I wouldn't have had to pay for it if I had a Kindle.

I'm not 100% sure. I jail broke it just for shits and giggles then decided to download books. I don't think you have to though. The pictured little calibre program makes book management retardedly simple, and reading about it seemed like you could take books from any ebook and stick it on another so I don't think you have too.

There ya go then.

You do not. My Kindle is as it was straight out of the box and I have only ever used pirated books.

Nook Simple Touch feels nicer to hold in your hand. The Kindle touch feels cheap. They should have stuck with a design similar to the previous keyboard Kindles.

Also Nook Simple Touch supports epub.

I own a Kindle and while I enjoy it, I'm left unsatisfied after reading a book due to the fact I can't then add it to my bookshelf for people to see. Yeah, I'm a terrible human being but whatever, I like people to know I'm not a complete chucklefuck. I know for a fact many of you will be the same and will outright deny it, but that's fine, that's okay, I'm not judging you.

I'm prepared to accept any hate with a warm and open embrace.

With my kindle when I read a book I really enjoyed, I go out and buy an actual copy of the book to put on my shelf. I also have a few of those Leatherbound Classics from Barns & Noble... They look like a delightfully tacky rainbow on the shelf.
