But if you put any credence behind it, my IQ has been properly tested at 138, a year or so ago. Not genius level, but when I was a kid I scored 150+ and was told I was a genius, which didn't do much for my academic studies.

It does however not mean she's good at higher level math, that she's "intelligent", not "intellectual", that she is well spoken, well reflected, or well read.
Kids typically scores higher than even architects on spatial/visual tests, and autistic people higher than engineers on logic/"math" related testing.

The point is that having a high IQ doesn't matter in practical terms, unles you've used it to reach a point of intellect higher than your peers.

Does it? I remember a BBC documentary about IQ. EQ and other such quotients and measuring sticks. In the documentary, people with high IQ were able to do math and science really well, but then ...

They gave them a sock, and asked them to come up with uses for it.

People with high IQ found it incredibly difficult to think of novel uses for the sock. Those with high EQ or who were just generally more creative were able to list reams of uses.

IQ is an indicator of a very specific kind of aptitude. It definitely does not measure creativity or the ability to deal with novelty.

Creative people tend to be able to think laterally, whereas logical persons tend to find this a really difficult proposition. You need both kinds of smarts to be successful in society, so IQ isn't really an effective indicator of, well, anything other than logic.
