So I've been reading the naked lunch for the first time and I'm kind of enjoying although I do admit I sometimes get pretty lost with what the hell is going on.

One question though, what's with the scenes involving depraved homosexual sex acts? Is it a satirical over-exaggeration of conservative views on sex? Is it an over-exaggeration of sex acts that the narrator is witnessing? Or are they metaphors for drug use? Or are they something else?

I understand the whole thing with the sperm being drank by "reptiles" as a metaphor for junkies and drug dealers but I'm getting a little lost on the arbitrary sex that just shows up out of nowhere.

I suggest you read the hot gay sex in _Cities of the Red Night;_ Burroughs sees sex as an incredibly valuable magical act—it summons positive orgone energy into the world, or is capable of sanctifying a negative orgone energy situation.

There is a little bit more to "hot gay sex" than simply "hot gay sex" but the little bit more is "hot gay sex." You can understand either by reference to _CotRN_ or by having hot gay sex.

There's no enlightening the dullard. Have I told you the story about the Mullah Nasrudin teaching his donkey to give lectures because he was tired of working at the Brixton mosque?

The donkey became chief Imam and sacked Nasrudin for dereliction of duty.
