Well I think it's pretty interesting and I'm starting to see The Hero's Journey in almost every book I read and every film I watch, but I'm not a writer myself, so I can't say if it affects the creation of a story in any way. That's why I'd be interested in hearing any thought or discussion on the book.

Your turn, what do you think?

It's shit. It and the three-act structure are to blame for all the shit we have to wade through today to find anything decent.

Oh, and also, if anyone has read both The Hero with a Thousand Faces and The Writer's Journey, which one did you think was better?

How exactly? Do you mean it's making literature too formulaic?

Holy fuck you are retarded.

Many stories that are better suited to other structures are squashed into these two, which ruins these stories' form and introduces many other narrative problems, but the publishing houses and Hollywood don't care because if it fits the three-act structure and the hero's journey it must be decent.

That only means that the book is really good. Having such a prolific impact means there's something to it. You can't blame the book for the lack of creativity in Hollywood.
