I read in bed or on my couch. I don't have special spots where some kind of feng shui channels mystical energy to power my reading. I just read.

I'll never be able to read well outside of my own home because of muh attention deficit. And even reading here can be difficult because of roommates, neighbors, trains, car subs, and ambient ghetto sounds.

>> No.3221752

My university's physics and astronomy building was renovated this year, so it's pretty and clean. They also brought in a bunch of couches. Pretty much no one has any reason to go there except for the physics students so it's a great quiet place to read.

>> No.3221773

The only place I could fully concentrate was on the school bus. It's been over 10 years since I've finished school and I still haven't found a place that I can completely focus and get lost in what I'm reading.

pkd broke down into schizophrenia, and lived most of his writing career under placebo effects of amphetamines (i.e. he was on them all the time but never felt the effects of them because his body couldn't metabolize them properly to interact with his brain)

he's an interesting fellow, in any case, worth reading about

I go to the library. They have these little booths that you can call home for hours on end and you have enough room for everything: books, dictionaries, pads of paper, smaller pads of paper, music player, pens, food/drink; it's on the third level overlooking an extensive forest and I always get a spot right next to the window in the classics section; that's right, i just used a semi-colon irregularly.
