>sequels ever being better
"Are the movies better?"

>> No.3328087

They actually are, though not by much.

I read the first 3, lemme see how much I can remember

2nd book:
>Ouch my back hurts from when I got fucked up in the first book
>Hey there's another Dragon and rider
>Ouch my back hurts
>Oh, I'm an elf now
>The other rider's dead now

Book 3
>There's a big battle coming!
>Seriously, it's coming!
>Look, there's a little psychic child who says so
>Here it comes!
>Over in about 10 pages
>But there's a big battle in the next book!
No thank you Mr. Paolini

Just remembered some more.
Sapphira (The main guy's dragon) loses her spaghetti when she sees the other dragon and pretty much instantly tries to fuck him, only to get rejected despite being one of the only dragons left.

Also, the main character's older brother leads a load of peasants against the evil army and is the only interesting part of the series.

It was like Star Wars, except with Dragons.

The first three are decent but the last one was shit, the ending was fucking terrible

>> No.3328135

each sequel got longer and longer and less and less happened.

it's sort of baffling

Holy shit. it is.

>> No.3328193

The older brother's shit was the only interesting part.

The series as a whole would have been much better if he was the main character and we HEARD about all this magical shit going on with Eragon but never saw it.

Overall, I thought that as the series went further and further on it became more and more fanfiction-y. It just gave me that kind of feeling.

Overall, while I cannot call the books Amazing, on any level, I'm still glad for having read them.

Any of you all read that Rolling Stones article they did on Paolini and his family?

It's PAINFULLY obvious that Paolini and his sister fuck and that the parents are turning a blind eye to this because their son is making them rich.

>> No.3328219

Nope, they're just horrible. Eragon is one of the worst characters I've ever read about. Seriously, he kills people for fun, yet all characters act like he's the hot shit and the perfect saint he really freaking isn't. He makes bad excuses for his sociopathic behaviour, has stupid "morals" about such things as vegetarianism, he's a very bad mary sue, and above all else he's annoying as heck.

I won't even start on the other flaws.

This...

This would explain why he kept around that character he named after he long after that character stopped being relevant.

>> No.3328252

I've only read the first two, but I thought Eldest was a reasonable improvement upon the first. I'll eventually finish the series someday, it's not so bad.

>Rolling Stones article they did on Paolini
There is a dragon coffee table, a dragon side table, a dragon sconce, a dragon shelf, a dragon clock, a dragon mirror, a dragon lamp, a dragon letter holder, a dragon bench and a dragon head mounted outside the door – a fitting design scheme for an author who made his name writing books about a boy named Eragon, who seals his fate as a "Dragon Rider" when he finds a bright-blue egg that hatches a dragon. "I could have gotten more," Paolini says, "but I decided that was enough dragons for one place."

I just read the article and it's at all PAINFULLY clear that he is boning his sister. Your putting too much on it.
