I wrote this short story. You can find it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Tales-From-Gas-Station-ebook/dp/B00CKF7EMK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1367462379&sr=8-3&keywords=gas+station+tales

And since I'm pandering, I'll also answer any questions you have about self-publishing through Amazon.

How many other works have you published in this manner?
How much money have you made?
How else do you self-promote, if at all?
Best way to make money doing this?

I published a piece of erotic literature, too, but I didn't enjoy writing it and knew it was awful, so I took it down after three or four days. In those three days I made two dollars off of it.

The one I linked to I just put up the day before yesterday and I've sold fifteen copies. Amazon takes a 65% cut of anything that's sold that is priced at less than (I think) 2.99 USD. So I've made 5.25.

So far I've just sent it to my writer/artfag friends on Facebook, and posted this thread. The copies I've sold of this are probably mostly family/friends.

I haven't figured out how to make a living yet, but it seems like the most important part (other than, you know, being a decent writer) is to get the word out about your product.

Is that supposed to be Squidward?

Sorry i don't have a credit card, but it's nice you've published something, that's more than anyone has done here i think (with the exception of nanowrimo).

Congratulations

You seem like a decent writer but sorry, the present tense is too choppy and hard to follow for me.

His name is Jacob. He is promoting a book on 4chan. Jacob is naked, and alone and loving it.

I am wishing Jacob good luck on his writing endeavors.

I had a really hard time staying consistent with tense. I don't know why, I don't think I've had that problem elsewhere.

Thank you for the support.

English and Philosophy. Which is a waste of time. Not even because you don't get paid, but because it made me like reading less.

Is it better than Wool? Because Wool is goddamn amazing. At least the first novella. Have no idea why the others had to be written, and didn't read them. Will probably get around to it someday.

Because this is just for Amazon, I had to format it to their specifications. Outside of making myself sit down and write it, this was the hardest part.

There's a sample on the Amazon page, but here's another snippet.

“Oh, shit, mouse!” Bobby said. A mouse scurry-jumped underneath of some car as it rolled to a stop at pump one.

“What?” said Trent. “Man, fuck that mouse. It’s, like, you know, Darwin. That mouse isn’t smart enough to know not to run underneath of that giant roaring thing? Fuck that mouse.” Trent takes a long drag. He squints when he does this.

“Hey, brother, you out of coffee” says the Bird Man from inside the store. The Bird Man drives a very nice looking car which Bobby doesn’t know the model of, but knows that people who love cars would really love this one.

“Cause that mouse, you know, it’s just survival of the fittest and if that mouse isn’t fit, then: fuck it. Fuck that mouse. I’d feed that mouse to my snake.”

Trent really does own a snake.
