Watched this movie for the first time a few days ago. Shit was awesome but depressed the hell out of me afterwards. As far as a book recommendation, Bukowski very often writes about how love is temporary and will fade. You could try that? That's about as much as I can help though.

I mean, in what sense? Frank O'Hara has some great writings but they might be more "Manhattan"-esque. I would say that a lot of social dramas like Henry James or Jane Austen are comparable to Annie Hall.
