I think man is inherently capable of good. Good being widely open to interpretation but I think it's true that humans are inherently designed to get along with one another and the world around them simply because doing so would be necessary to survival. No man is an island, etc. Hence we have capacities for compassion, empathy, tolerance, and so on which are all important for basic cohesiveness. I wouldn't think of any of it as absolute however; very often the same necessities can require almost the opposite capacities.

There is no good or bad. We only feel two base emotions FEAR and LOVE, all other emotions are reflections of those two. Depending on which energy you are feeling at the moment either fear or love you radiate that energy out and the actions you do in life will effect that. If one is in fear mode because he is homeless and decides to rob a kwiki-mart he's bad. If love mode is engaged the homeless guy might have not robbed a store but instead start giving love and support for others like him, start off small do something for another human being not because you want something in return but want to make someone smile. Just think about heterogeneous CPU's. You could have the other cores being like something out of a GPU. I think I'd rather have 100 floating point units than 4 cores. A few identical cores are good, but a bunch of little ones in addition to a few sounds better.
For servers you can benefit from SMP but on a home system master/slave.

I do programming for work and for fun. When I'm relaxing at home, I like to fire-up LoseThos and do neat stuff, like ASM programming where I can tinker with system instructions. That's why I made LoseThos ring-zero-only. I want to play with the cool instructions... in fact, why would I not want all instructions available! Heck, I never need ring 3. It's my own computer and my own programs, of course I want full access at all times!
I put all code in lowest 2 Gig so I only need CALL REL32 for system calls. I don't bother to learn how you have to do it from ring 3, not my problem. That's fer peons who don't have full access.
It's a blemish on 64-bit-edness that I impose "all code in lowest 2 Gig", ugly in a way, but nobody will ever need more than 2 Gig of code and it's very nice what you get in return. By the way, there is no "kernel" or "user", it's all ring 0. It's single-address-map, too. Virtual, identity mapped to physical.

I increased the size of map files in the linker. I wrote a scandisk/fix thing for their file system. I wrote a file compression package for VAX and PC. I wrote a device driver reset routine for one of their multiplexed serial port devices. Then I worked on hardware -- bar code reader, networker, minor issues with ticketprinter, line voltage regulator.
I can prove I had the skills to do TempleOS. You watched me do it. I wrote every line. You don't like it. I'm in prison.

If you really want details, God talked to me in 1996. I quit ticketmaster. I gave away all my possessions like you are supposed to. Nothing turned up. I had dreamed of starting a company so did 3 Axis milling machine on credit card and got $12,000 in debt before I saw it wasn't going to be ready for consumers. I am a software and hardware engineer by training -- BSE in computer systems enginmeering -- like for embedded systems and MSE in electrical engineering. The BSE was about hardware and software for embedded systems -- glue logic and stuff.
I wrote a CAD/CAM program and made the steppermotor board and firmware. I did the mechanical but it sucked. At Ticketmaster I had some failed electro/mechanical experience as well as software experience.
Couldn't even get my brother who was in town and is a millwright to look at it. Nobody interested.
I got a job, paid 12,000 back and saved 12,000 in a couple years and quit to do book, then did simstructure. tried to get teachers to look at it, game companies, no luck. Then some big boys infringed on my SimStructure name by making a sims game of the same name. Fuckers. Part of TempleOS being free was payback and part was no choice because Linux is free.
